What Is Going On???

What is going on around here??? For the second time in a week Huntsville is once again making national news. Today during a biology faculty meeting at the University of Alabama's Huntsville office (UAH), authorities say a professor there learned she would not receive tenure. She then pulled out a gun and started shooting, killing three faculty members and injuring three others (2 were faculty members and the third was a member of the university staff). Last Friday, a 14 year old student, was shot and killed by a fellow ninth-grade student at Discovery Middle School in Madison. He died. Investigators have now confirmed the alleged shooter and the victim were in the same gang. It is a group that hoped to become affiliated with a nationally-known gang. So how did a group of ninth graders in Madison learn about gangs? The World Wide Web. I hate to think that this is what Huntsville/Madison is getting known for. Last Friday as my husband and I drove by Discovery Middle School, which happens to be a very nice school, we saw news crews all around and we were thinking they must have did something great for all that media coverage. We later learned they were there because of a shooting and then this evening my daughter called and asked if I was watching the news, which I very seldom do . . . I was saddened to learn that another shooting had taken place. Tonight as we ate dinner in Huntsville everyone around us was talking about the shootings and many were in shock that such a tragedy had happened  . . .  not once but twice in one week. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

So sorry to hear it! You know I think that woman knew she wasn't going to get it. WHO takes a gun to work to a meeting!??? Crazy. I think we should have rights but when too many feel it is just so easy to pull out a gun and shoot maybe we should reconsider. It is hard to hear this.I hope you are in good spirits and will not let this get you too down. You have enough on your plate as it is!
Hugs and prayers, Lisa

That is so sad. It must be hard to have something like that happen in your community. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends involved.
