Prayer for Mothers

Dear Lord,
today we pray for mothers--
our own mothers, and mothers everywhere,
who have made such a major contribution
to the good qualities we have,
sometimes through genetics,
more often through great effort and patient instruction,
and who have done their best
to gently polish away our rough edges.
Lord, please bless our mothers
for the endless hours of time they spent
and the boundless energy they invested in us.
Bless our mothers for their sacrifices on our behalf
as they often gave up or deferred their own dreams
so that we could have ours.
Bless our mothers for always being there for us,
for being the person we know we can turn to
when we need comfort, encouragement, or just a hug.
Bless our mothers for making a home for us
where we could feel safe, where we felt we belonged.
Most of all, Lord,
bless our mothers for their unconditional love,
for loving us no matter what,
and for frequently showing love
in ways that make us feel valued and cherished.
Lord, please bless our mothers mightily.
Strengthen them, soothe them,
wrap them in Your infinite love
and shower them with blessings
too numerous to count, too magnificent to describe.
We love them, admire them, respect them,
and we wish that You would give them back
many times the good they gave to us.
In Jesus' name we pray;
Amen.

Than have a happy day.
Within those words lie lots of things
We never get to say.
It means I love you first of all,
Then thanks for all you do.
It means you mean a lot to me,
And that I honor you.
But most of all, I guess it means

History of Mother's Day: Anna Jarvis
Anna Jarvis is recognized as the Founder of Mothers Day in US. Though Anna Jarvis never married and never had kids, she is also known as the Mother of Mothers Day, an apt title for the lady who worked hard to bestow honor on all mothers. Anna Jarvis got the inspiration of celebrating Mothers Day from her own mother, Mrs Anna Marie Reeves Jarvis , in her childhood. An activist and social worker, Mrs Jarvis used to express her desire that someday someone must honor all mothers, living and dead, and pay tribute to the contributions made by them. A loving daughter, Anna never forgot her mother's words and when her mother died in 1905, she resolved to fulfill her mother's desire of having a mother's day. Growing negligent attitude of adult Americans towards their mothers and a desire to honor her mother soared her ambitions.To begin with Anna, sent carnations in the church service in Grafton, West Virginia to honor her mother. Carnations were her mothers favorite flower and Anna felt that they symbolized a mother's pure love. Later, Anna, along with her supporters, wrote letters to people in positions of power lobbying for the official declaration of Mothers Day holiday. The hard work paid off. By 1911, Mother's Day was celebrated in almost every state in the Union and on May 8, 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a Joint Resolution designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.
History of Mother's Day: Present Day Celebrations
Today Mother's Day is celebrated in several countries including US, UK, India, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan and Belgium. People take the day as an opportunity to pay tribute to their mothers and thank them for all their love and support. The day has become hugely popular and in several countries phone lines witness maximum traffic. There is also a tradition of gifting flowers, cards and others gift to mothers on the Mothers Day. The festival has become commercialized to a great extent. Florists, card manufacturers and gift sellers see huge business potential in the day and make good money through a rigorous advertising campaign.
It is unfortunate to note that Ms Anna Jarvis, who devoted her life for the declaration of Mothers Day holiday was deeply hurt to note the huge commercialization of the day.
Mother's Dictionary of Meanings
Bottle-feeding: An opportunity for Daddy to get up at 2 AM too.
Dumbwaiter: One who asks if the kids would care to order dessert.
Feedback: The inevitable result when the baby doesn't appreciate the strained carrots.
Full Name: What you call your child when you're mad at him.

Independent: How we want our children to be for as long as they do everything we say.

Baking Recipe For Mothers
1. Preheat the oven. Check to be sure there are no rubber balls or plastic soldiers lurking on the racks.
2. Remove blocks and toy cars from table. Grease pan. Crack nuts.
3. Measure 2 cups flour. Remove Johnny's hands from the flour. Wash flour off him. Re-measure flour.
4. Crack more nuts to replace those that Johnny ate. Put flour, baking powder, and salt in sifter. Get dust pan and brush up pieces of bowl that Johnny knocked on the floor. Get another bowl.
5. Answer the door-bell. Return to kitchen. Remove Johnny's hands from the bowl again. Wash Johnny. Answer the phone. Return to Kitchen.
6. Remove 1/2-inch salt from the greased pan. Look for Johnny. Grease another pan. Answer phone. Return to kitchen and find Johnny.
7. Take up greased pan and remove layer of nut shells in it. Head for Johnny who runs, knocking the bowl off the table.
8. Wash the kitchen floor, table, walls, and dishes.
9. Call the bakery and place an order. Take two aspirins and lie down. Don't forget to turn the oven off!

Things a Mom Would Never Say To Her Children

Mother is the first teacher of any child. But the role of mother is much wider than just a teacher. She is the one who makes a child capable to differentiate between good and bad. And she plays her role so naturally that a child has not to attend any formal classroom sessions for this purpose. He learns all his lessons during the process of his upbringing. However any mom in the world never says the following things to her child…
"How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back?"
"Yeah, I used to skip school a lot, too"
"Just leave all the lights on ... it makes the house look more cheery"
"Let me smell that shirt -- Yeah, it's good for another week"
"Go ahead and keep that stray dog, honey. I'll be glad to feed and walk him every day"
"Well, if Tommy's momma says it's OK, that's good enough for me."
