We have had a dreary weekend. I told my husband this afternoon that I need to see and feel the sunshine instead of the dark and rainy days we've had recently. I can easily see why they say the lack of sunlight in the winter months can trigger depression in people who are subject to seasonal affective disorder (SAD). In fact. I may be one of those people who suffers from SAD. "The medical definition of SAD is: symptoms of depression coinciding with seasons of shorter days and less sunlight. This is blamed on the so-called biological internal clocks, or circadian rhythm, and it is said that SAD sufferers are more likely to be women and younger persons. Other symptoms include a craving for sugary foods, such as sweets, candies, and refined carbohydrates. Now, all of this is true -- these are the accurate symptoms of seasonal affective disorder -- but the true cause of SAD, is quite simply lack of exposure to natural sunlight." I have suffered from mild depression during the winter months for several years now and have only recently found out about this disorder which may explain why I get depressed and why I crave sweets during this time. The bottom line to all of this is I need to get out more and get at least a few minutes of sunlight a day. Unfortunately, I can't when it is dark and dreary as it has been so often in the past few weeks. Today has not been good for Skylar either. While Jacqueline (my daughter) was at the hospital visiting this afternoon, he asked if he could lay his head against her and he started complaining about not being able to see very well and became very pale. My sister, Pam, who is his mother, went to get the tech to check his blood pressure and it had dropped to 42 over 28. . . scary isn't it. His mom went into a panic attack and had to leave the room and several nurses and a doctor came in and decided it was because he was dehydrated and started giving him fluids. In the midst of all the commotion with the doctor and nurses, Skylar was asking my daughter to spray his cologne on him and she did. They were able to get Skylar's BP raised some and Lee, (my son) came by and did his stretches and exercises and got it almost back up to normal. My sister called me with all the details afterwards. Skylar called me earlier this morning and we talked for a while and I noticed that he sounded very weak. He called again this afternoon and was wanting to know if I had tailored his jeans yet and I told him I would try and do it later. Then he called me back after all this happened and asked if I had his jeans ready, I told him I would do them now and he said for me to call him when I was finished. I tailored 3 pair for him, called him, and he had Chelsea, his girlfriend, come by and pick them up to bring to the hospital. . . he says he is wearing a pair of them tomorrow???? I will be so happy when it stops raining, the sun is shining and Skylar is well and back home. Thanks for stopping by and have a nice week.

SAD is indeed running rampant in this part of the world. Praise the Lord, we have sunshine today! Don't know what I'll do but I'm getting out in it today. Sorry Skylar is having such a difficult time. Maintaining blood pressure can be very difficult for quads as I'm sure you already know. I can't imagine how diffiuclt it must be to see him suffer such and know there is nothing you can do about it. Prayer is powerful and I know you use it often on his behalf. I'll be saying a prayer for him, too. Hope you all have a great week and more sunshine!
