Happy Homemaker Monday

hhm

The weather in my neck of the woods:
It is 86 degrees, slightly humid, and mostly cloudy. A beautuful day.

One of my simple pleasures:
Lying in my front porch swing, reading a good book.

On my bedside table:
Lamp
Phone
Picture of my son (daughter's picture is on husband's nightstand)
Book-A Gift of Grace by Amy Clipston

On my TV:
Has not been turned on.

On the menu for tonight:
Fried chicken,
green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, fried corn, and biscuits

On my To Do List:
Make bed and pick up in bedroom
Do a few loads of laundry
Go over and help Skylar (4 hours)
Finish painting the kitchen and clean up
Clean the main bathroom
Sweep and mop floors
Cook supper and wash dishes (no dishwasher)

New Recipe I tried last week:
Lemonade Slush
1 cup white sugar
4 cups ice cubes
2 cups of water
7 lemons
Juice all 7 of the lemons, but keep the lemon halves for later. Put sugar, lemon juice, water, and ice into blender. Blend until smooth. You can make little “lemon umbrellas” for the drinks by poking a hole in the center of the lemon rind with a sharp knife (be careful!) and pushing a straw through.

In the craft basket:
I have fabric waiting to be made into new curtains for my dining room.

Looking forward to:
having a few days to myself. My husband and our children (they are adults) are leaving Thursday going to Las Vegas for a few days. I am staying home because I have no desire to go there and I will not fly. I have a lot of plans such as doing some landscaping and painting at my son's house while he is gone. I plan on Thursday being my day to do as I please. The next 4 days I will be working around here.

Homemaking Tip for this week:
10 MINUTE CLEAN-UP -- After a shower or bath, take a few minutes to use a glass wipe to clean off the counter, mirror, shower stall , handles etc. Your bathroom will always look clean and bacteria free and smell good too!

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
I read a cute post at
Journal for Women titled Two Times. The host is sharing a story about her grandson being disciplined.

Favorite photo from last week:

I know this isn't an actual photo but I found it last week and it reminded me of my husband sometimes when I get on the computer.....

Lesson learned the past few days:
"That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become."

On my Prayer List:
My husband and children
Skylar and other family members
Elizabeth & Dave (Texas)

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, Titus 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Thank you Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for hosting this event.
