Christmas Once More
Naomi I. Parks
Again, as in the years gone by,
It's Christmastime once more;
With trees and lights and holly,
And wreaths upon the doors;
With packages all gaily wrapped,
And secrets whisperings,
The sound of happy laughter
The joy that Christmas brings.
The air is spiced with fragrance
Of puddings, pies, and cake;
The children dream of Santa Claus
And try to keep awake
That they might see old Santa,
His reindeer and his sleigh,
To hear his "Merry Christmas"
As he quickly drives away.
The carols of the Yuletide,
Stories told by firelight;
The twinkling stars above us
Like myriad candlelight;
The whiteness of the snowflakes
Softly drifting through the air;
The warmth of friends and loved ones
Round about us everywhere.
The ringing of the church bells,
The folks who kneel and pray,
Remembering the Christ Child
Born on this Christmas Day;
The star the wise men followed,
Their presents to bestow,
The message of the angels
To shepherds there below.
Again, as in the years gone by,
It's Christmastime once more.
Come, let us go and worship
The Christ Child we adore,
That his peace and love may ever
Within our glad hearts ring
That we may share with others
The joys that Christmas brings.
