We will be hosting the first of our 2 family Christmas get togethers on Saturday. My husband's family will be coming and I am looking forward to it. We will be having mostly finger foods but I thought I would fix a pot each of chili, chicken noodle soup, and chicken stew. I will also fix a large pan of Mexican cornbread to go with the chili. I have spent the past few afternoons baking cookies. Tuesday evening I cooked dinner for my son and Morgan, his wife, and Skylar and Chelsea, his girlfriend. I have to give credit to my husband for standing out in the cold and grilling. We had grilled chicken, grilled venison tenderloin wrapped in bacon, kabobs, corn on the cob. baked potatoes, stewed potatoes, french cut green beans, peas, macaroni & cheese, and biscuits. I cook to please and different family members prefer different beans and their potatoes cooked differently. I never did get around to putting up more Christmas decorations and I don't intend to . . . They have been put away. I may feel differently next year but this year I did not enjoy what decorating that I did. As for now, I feel the need to simplify things and I don't need a lot of decorations to celebrate Christmas. I plan to work a little harder over the next few weeks continuing to declutter my home. I love a clean and uncluttered home but I have been finding it hard to keep up with my cleaning lately . . . too much STUFF or maybe something else???? I have a difficult time getting even the simplest jobs done. . . my attention span is not good and I am bad about jumping to another job before I have completed the one before it. A few weeks ago while on the internet I found a poem or joke titled A.A.A.D.D. (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder)and it had to have been written about me . . . or someone like me.....and sounds very much like each day of my life. In fact, I often say to my husband when he comes home to a mess that it is hard to believe that I have been busy all day. I thought I would share the poem with you. Do you ever have one of these days???

Recently, I was diagnosed with A A A D D - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car I forgot to put in the garage last night, and decide the car really needs washing. As I pull the hose around the house to the driveway, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only 1 check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the coke that I had been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the bottle of coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I realize I left my computer running, answering emails on gardening, when I take a sip of the coke, it's hot, so I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to get cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the bottle of coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses laying on the counter, I've been searching for them all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll add some fresh water to the vase of flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
----the garden didn't get any water,
----the car isn't washed,
----the bills aren't paid,
----the garden emails havn't been answered,
----there is a bottle of hot coke sitting on the counter,
----the flowers in the vase still don't have enough water,
----there is only 1 check left in my check book,
----I can't find the remote,
----now I can't find my glasses again,
----and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mails. Do me a favor, will you? Send a link to this page… to everyone you know, because I don't remember to whom it has been sent. Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

I've got it bad! Maybe it's just the weather? I can't seem to finish anything since I've moved to Eva. I love Christmas, but right now I'm ready for the New Year...to start fresh.
Ummm YEAH, I can totally relate!! Your Christmas get-togethers sound fabulous! Have fun ~ ♥
Have a great Christmas with your family.
At our big family Christmas we used china now we are at the paper plate stage. We rather spend more time w/family then most of our time in the kitchen.
Also my boss just had kidney stone surgery and she said this yr her only decorating is few poinsettias for Christmas. And its not about all the decorating like she thought before.
We built our home approx. 24yrs.ago on a very small budget. Now, as the yrs have gone by, we are able to remodel/add-on, seems like nothing is getting done. Not to mention few physical problems have hindered it. W/surgical menopause its brought on another dimension. While I'm off from work few days for the Holidays; I'm hoping/praying that I'll be able to do few unfinished things around the home. We will see...as I was telling a patron...just might treat myself to a movie or two over the Holidays (big smile). I've heard 'Blind Side' is a great one.
Happy Holidays.
LOL! My husband and I both have it. I found the oatmeal in the refrigerator last night...been looking for it! I don't know which one of us did this. Several times this week I've gone into a room and forgotten why I had gone there...doing too many things all at once. I've done some other silly things like ask my husband for my glasses when I'm wearing them(I wear contacts most of the time)!
Some days are better than others, but I'm definitely got the weird hormonal stuff going on. I'm taking a very small dose of Celexa for the PMS type symptoms(peri-menopause really). I feel much more relaxed and focused now.
Your food sounds so yummy! It makes me hungry just reading about it. That was very funny about A.D.D. I have read that before and just laughed and laughed! Thanks so much for sharing. Take care of yourself dear friend! Elena
Ha ha ha ha!! That is so what my days can be like! LOL
It was so nice to get your note on my blog. I smiled when I saw your name pop up. Thanks so much for the vist.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas full of blessings.
