"2nd Time Around Tuesday"

Diane from A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words is hosting 2nd Time Around Tuesday. "If you love second hand treasures you are in the right place. Just create a post and link the title of your post to Mr. Linky . You can post most anything...things from an antique store, garage sale, estate sale, thrift store, flea market....just use your imagination! Or maybe you have something that you inherited or was given to you-we would love to see that too!" Today is the first time I have participated and I am showing a framed art piece that has actually been passed down 4 times in our family. I do not know much about this print but I have been told that furniture stores used to give them away when you purchased furniture from them. My husband's aunt bought it at a yard sale in the 60's. She later gave it to my husband's mom. My mother-in-law then gave it to her oldest son, my brother-in-law. He passed away in 1987 and my husband and I purchased his house. When we took over ownership, his wife had taken everything except for this print hanging on the bedroom wall. I loved the print and was happy that she had left it. The frame on the print had been painted 3 or 4 times throughout the years and did not look very good. I stripped all the paint off and decided to paint it to match some frames that I was already using in my den. I painted it an off white and gold leafed the beautiful corners. Afterwards, I went over it with and antiquing glaze. I was very happy with the results and it has been with us for 21 years and has found it's home. If anyone has more information on this print I would love to learn more about it. Thank you stopping by and please go by and visit Diane's blog to see what she and others are showing.

Hi Elizabeth! Oh, I'm excited to tell you I have this print too! My frame is different but the same print. My mother gave it to me. She had given a Stanley products home party in the early fifties and this was her hostess gift for giving the party! I just love this picture. As a little girl I remember standing on the back of a big club chair and looking at his picture.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
