Collecting & Displaying Plates

I like decorating with plates, both old and new, but I tend to favor the older ones the best. When I use to go to antique stores, I would always stop and look at lamps and plates and I bought quite a few. Now I very seldom go to antique stores anymore and with the exception of 4 that I bought at a yard sale this fall, I haven't purchased any in at least 3 years. I also sold several that I had and never used back to the same antique dealer that I bought them from. Now, I simply swap out the ones that I have. While I haven't bought any in a while, if I should find one that I really liked and the price was right, I would probably buy it. I thought I would share with you some of the plates that I have and how I use them.

On the mantle in our den.

Over the love seat in the den.

On a table beside the love seat in the den.

On a cabinet in our living room.

Around the grandfather clock in the living room.

On a bedside table in the guest bedroom.

On a dresser in the guest bedroom. The old lamp belonged to my dad's parents. My grandfather gave it to my dad before he (grandfather) passed away and my dad was very particular with it. When my dad passed away I asked my mom if I could have it because I knew it was something he cherished and she gave it to me. Now I cherish it.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed you visit.
